Historic East Aurora

Visit Historic East Aurora

Take a step back in time and visit historic East Aurora. The quaint village streets are lined with specialty shops, restaurants, churches, municipal buildings and carefully preserved homes. Down Main Street you’ll find a delightful nickel and dime store and a classic ice cream parlor. You can’t miss the old fashioned neon marquee of the Aurora Theatre, a 650 seat big-screen cinema.

Much of historic East Aurora’s charm lies in its rich history. Famous residents include U.S. President Millard Fillmore and Elbert Hubbard, and it served as the birthplace of Fisher-Price toys. Fisher-Price’s international headquarters are located on Girard Avenue in the Village. Visit the Toy Town USA Museum, where over 8,000 square feet is dedicated to the heritage and importance that toys play in all our lives.  The annual Toy Fest celebration draws children of all ages to the community every summer.

Millard Fillmore, the nation’s 13th president, built the Millard Fillmore House on Shearer Avenue when he was a country lawyer in East Aurora. The President lived there only four years during which time his son was born. The home has been moved from its original location no less than two times. The 1825 structure has been restored to its original beauty and features some original Fillmore furniture of the era, as well as items from Fillmore’s presidential years.  The Fillmore House Museum is open seasonally from June through October.

The historic community of East Aurora has plenty of unique attractions for people searching for a close, fun-filled daytrip.
